Stephen Cadoux '14 commits to Ithaca College Crew

Pictured from left: Principal Dr. Robert Perrotta, Stephen's father Peter Cadoux '78, Stephen Cadoux '14, and Head Crew Coach Ed Feldheim

Fairfield Prep is proud to recognize Stephen Cadoux, who has made an athletic commitment to Ithaca College Crew. Stephen began his rowing career in grade school with Saugatuck Rowing Club in Westport. Upon entering Prep, Stephen decided that it was important to row for his school and he began a career that would eventually see him elected co-captain by his peers. Since sophomore year Stephen was at the center of Prep’s fastest boats and in 2012 his was the first to make it to the semi-finals at America’s largest high school regatta, the Stotesbury Cup. In 2013 his boat repeated that accomplishment on their way to a 15th place overall at the Scholastic National Championship. His rowing awards include: (2013) 15th at Scholastic Rowing Association National Championship in the Junior 8+; (2012) 17th at Scholastic Rowing Association National Championship in the Junior 8+; (2012) 11th at The Stotesbury Cup in the Junior 8+; and (2013) 15th at The Stotesbury Cup in the Junior 8+.

Stephen has always found the right balance between rowing, school and volunteering. When not out on the water, he has been an active and enthusiastic member of the Fairfield Prep community. A genuine and sincere young man, he has embraced the school’s Jesuit mission of Service to Others both near and far. Last summer Stephen attended an immersion service trip to Jamaica working at a special needs orphanage, and he has continued that work locally the past three years volunteering with students at the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club. He has also spent time with Operation Hope in Bridgeport and has helped pack Thanksgiving food donations for Al’s Angels. Stephen will be bringing his warm personality and rowing talents to the Ithaca College campus this fall.

Fairfield Prep celebrates groundbreaking and blessing of Student Life Center

From left: Fairfield University President Rev. Jeffrey von Arx, S.J.; Fairfield Prep President Rev. John Hanwell, S.J.; and Board Chairman Dr. Bob Russo '65.

Fairfield Prep celebrated the groundbreaking and blessing of a new Student Life Center on June 18 in Pelletier Quad. Guests included Fairfield University President Fr. Von Arx, S.J., members of Prep’s Board of Governors, administrators and staff, and members of the Fairfield Jesuit Community. Prep President Fr. John Hanwell, S.J., announced, "Today is a great moment in the history of Fairfield Prep. The Prep community breaks ground together for our new Student Life Center as we believe so heartily in our great mission that our students are our future and that their future is our responsibility."

The Center will serve as a crossroads for important campus activities. This state-of-the-art, technology-enriched, multi-purpose facility will feature a number of specialized, but functionally related spaces. The Center will foster a synergy between the academic and co-curricular lives of the school by providing students the opportunity to meet, to interact, to explore, and to cultivate their interests outside of the classroom. The facility will include an enhanced dining area to accommodate 500 students and other school sponsored functions; an assembly area for formal and informal meetings; and office space to support various student-based programs such as Campus Ministry, the SEED Diversity Program, and Community Service. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2015.
