Prep attends Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice in Washinton, D.C.

Nine Prep students, along with Mr. Sacerdote and Mr. Dennis, traveled to Washington D.C. to join over 1,200 Ignatian leaders in gathering for the 16th annual Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice in Washington D.C. In remembrance of the Jesuit martyrs of El Salvador, students heard inspiring speakers (one of whom was a Prep graduate, Jaime Rodriguez ’10), attended breakout sessions, and strengthened their advocacy skills. Then on Monday, November 18, the students visited the office of Connecticut Congressman Jim Himes on Capitol Hill to advocate on behalf of Immigration Reform, Fair Minimum Wage, and Access to Food (SNAP).

Donate to Toy Drive December 2 - 12!

Dear Fairfield Prep Community,

Thank you for your extremely generous support of our Thanksgiving Food Drive. The staff members from ABCD, Inc. were grateful and surprised at the incredible amount of food that waited to be picked up in our Arrupe hallway. All the food donated after November 21 will be brought to Operation Hope in Fairfield. Your donations will undoubtedly make someone's holiday season that much better this year.

I would like to ask that we all keep the momentum going as we once again will be holding a Christmas Toy Drive to benefit the Office of Social Concerns, Diocese of Bridgeport. The Toy Drive will begin on Monday, December 2 and will conclude on Thursday, December 12. Please see below for what students at each grade level have been asked to contribute. Please also note that all gifts should be unwrapped and placed under the tree on our Arrupe Foyer.

Thank you for your continued generosity!

Stock Market Club visits New York Stock Exchange

CLICK ON PHOTO TO VIEW SLIDESHOW!

On December 11, 32 student members of Fairfield Prep’s Stock Market Club became the first public group allowed to visit the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) since 9/11.  The students, along with three chaperones, visited the Museum of American Finance and the NYSE on Wall Street in New York City.  A BIG “Thank You” to Mr. Roselli P'16 for arranging our visits and Mrs. Gorab (Guidance) for helping to chaperone. The day after our visit, Hilton Hotels went public and they had models on the floor in spa robes that said Hilton on the back to promote the IPO. The floor reporter Robert Frank was talking live with them right behind the CNBC booth, and said: “We have another milestone, yesterday the exchange welcomed back our first group tour in a very long time, hosted by Morgan Stanley, the boys from Fairfield Prep came to visit us with their teachers Ms. Leonardo and Ms. Gorab.” His counterpart at the desk Simon Hobbs commented, “I understand it’s a popular class.”  Robert Frank: “Actually it’s a club, not a class, and every grade level was represented here; I love the concept, it’s just too bad they didn’t come today, the view was better.” Overall, the trip was a great experience, and hopefully the first of many more to come.
